The respiratory protection program in place was specific for 2 other locations. Employees at the Akron plant are required to wear respirators when they are working around chemicals including, but not limited to, ACTICIDE CBM 2 and hydrochloric acid.

29 CFR 1910.134(f)(2): The employer did not ensure that an employee using a tight-fitting facepiece respirator was fit tested prior to initial use of the respirator, whenever a different respirator facepiece (size, style, model or make) is used, and at least annually thereafter:  a. On or about May 4, 2017, employees were required to wear a tight-fitting half face respirator when working around ACTICIDE CBM 2 and hydrochloric acid. The employer failed to provide a fit test to employees prior to the required use of the respirator to ensure a proper seal was achieved providing adequate protection.  b. On or about May 4, 2017, employees were required to wear a tight-fitting half face respirator when working around ACTICIDE CBM 2 and hydrochloric acid. The employer failed to provide an annual fit test to ensure the respirator was sealing correctly and providing adequate protection. Fit tests had not been performed for approximately 3 years.
