29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. 1) Facility located at 7831 Bartram Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19153: ETECH Cart Dumper - The employer did not ensure that the ETECH Cart Dumper is adequately guarded while in operation. Carts are raised and lowered by hydraulic lift to be dumped which exposes employees to crushing hazards when the lift returns to ground level. 2) Facility located at 7831 Bartram Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19153: ETECH Cart Dumper - The employer did not ensure that the ETECH cart dumper is adequately guarded. Employees loading the carts into the lift are exposed to crushing hazards from carts flipping backwards while partially lifted. 3) Facility located at 7831 Bartram Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19153: eRail Dryer Loading System - The employer did not ensure that the eRail Dryer Loading system is adequately guarded. The eRail Dryer Loading System is a rail system that moves industrial sized laundry loads suspended in cloth sacks from the washer to the dryer by rail system through the walkway; thus exposing employees to struck by hazards. Condition observed on or about 8 MAY 2017.
