Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught in hazards:     a) On or about May 12, 2017, in the Tool Room, the JET horizontal/vertical metal cutting band-saw, model #HVBS-7MW, serial #8059180, used by employees to cut angle iron, was not equipped with a mechanism to prevent the saw from automatically restarting upon restoration of power after a power failure.    Among other methods, one method of feasible abatement would be to follow the guidelines in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B11.10  2003, Safety Requirements for Metal Sawing Machines, Section 6.11 Machine Starting.  Incorporate a type of drive motor starter that will disconnect the drive motor to the power source in the event of control voltage or power system failure.

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(1)(ii): Working space about electric equipment rated 600 volts, nominal, or less was used for storage   a) Outside Tool Room - On May 19, 2017, the employer did not ensure that a clear area was maintained around the electrical disconnect equipment, such as the electrical switches that powers the west side of the building.  The area in front of the electrical panels was being used to store boxes, packaging, and broken equipment.
