29 CFR 1915.152(b): The employer did not assess its work activity to determine whether there were hazards present, which necessitate the employee's use of personal protective equipment. Shipyard: The employer has determined that employees perform job duties that necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when servicing or repairing vessels. The following deficiencies were noted in the employer's occupational hazard assessment: 1. Specify the hazards associated with each job description and/or tasks; 2. Communicate PPE selections to each affected employees; 3. Verify that the occupational hazard assessment has been performed through a document that contains the occupation, date of the hazard assessment, and the name of the person performing the hazard assessment. *Abatement Note: Include in the assessment under which conditions PFD's must be worn.

29 CFR 1915.152(e)(1): The employer did not provide training to each employee who was required, by 29 CFR 1915.152, to use personal protective equipment. Shipyard: The employer needs to train employees who are required to wear personal protective equipment, such as but not limited to tight fitting negative pressure respirators, hard hats, and safety glasses on section (i)-(v) of this section. Additionally, the employer needs to train employee's under what circumstances the use of PFD'S are required.
