OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees from fires and explosions: a) On or about July 18, 2017 employees were operating a rip saw and molding machine that generated sparks and fine hardwood dust particles. The wood dust collection system included a cyclone pre-cleaner exterior to the structure with particles routed back inside the building to enclosureless dust collectors located adjacent to the work area. The system was not equipped with spark detection or suppression systems. NOTE: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item.
