29 CFR 1910.36(b)(2): More than two exit routes were not available in the workplace where the number of employees, the size of the building, its occupancy, or the arrangement of the workplace was such that all employees would not be able to evacuate safely during an emergency: Warehouse: On, or about, July 25, 2017, the warehouse space that was located beyond the exit door to the front exit stairwell exceeded the length of travel for a dead-end corridor/common path of travel as defined by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 101 Life Safety Code. The length of the space exceeded 100 feet and was not provided with a secondary exit.

The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp must be provided where the exit route is not substantially level: Warehouse: On, or about, July 25, 2017, the exit doors provided to exit into the front stairwell were secured shut with a board.
