29 CFR 1926.1417(o)(3)(i): The weight of the load was not determined from a source recognized by the industry (such as the load's manufacturer), or by a calculation method recognized by the industry (such as calculating a steel beam from measured dimensions and a known per foot weight), or by other equally reliable means: (a) On July 24, 2017 - South of Hwy 40 on Hwy 7, Blue Springs, Missouri: Employees were exposed to serious struck-by injuries, in that the Elliott 30 Ton Mobile Crane toppled over during sign demolition activities. The employer/operator had not determined the proper weight of the load and thereby exceeded the Load Chart Capacity Ratings for the intended lift. As a result, the crane dropped the load, struck a nearby parked truck and overhead power lines.
