OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not protected from the hazard of contracting the bacterium Clostridium difficile (C-diff). a) In the neuro pediatrics departments, on or about 6/17/17 through 06/20/17: Employees providing direct patient care were exposed to a patient who was suspected to be infected with Clostridium Difficile. The employer did not ensure that contact precautions were implemented in a timely manner based on patient symptoms and a specialist recommendation made during patient admission, including but not limited to wearing gloves and gowns, as well as performing specific hand sanitizing procedures.
