Employees use hazardous chemicals such as Ecolab cleaning products, disinfectants, and pool chemicals. The following elements were missing from the program: 1. Current Safety Data Sheets (SDS's) to replace the former Material Safety Data Sheets; 2. A description of the new pictogram system; 3. A description of the labeling system that will be used in the workplace;

29 CFR 1910.132(d)(2): The employer did not verify that the required workplace hazard assessment has been performed through a written certification which included the requirements as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.132(d)(2): Maintenance/housekeeping: The employer has provided employees with personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection to be worn when performing maintenance and housekeeping duties such as mixing and using cleaning products or adding pool chemicals. The use of PPE is a job requirement. A hazard assessment has not been performed to include the following elements: 1. Select and have each affected employee use the types of PPE that will protect them from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment; 2. Communicate the selection decisions to each affected employee and; 3. Select PPE that properly fits each affected employee.
