29 CFR 1910.94(a)(4)(iii) The air exhausted from blast-cleaning equipment was not discharged through dust collecting equipment. Dust collectors were not set up so that the accumulated dust can be emptied and removed without contaminating other working areas: a) On or about October 13, 2017, and at times prior, employees were exposed to respiratory hazards due to respirable dust discharged from blast-cleaning equipment that did not have dust collecting equipment. Dust was discharged through the fan outdoors in proximity to the employee break area and employee's personal vehicles. Accumulated used media was not collected in a manner that prevented contamination of other working areas. Used media settled in areas outside of the abrasive blasting enclosure, in the respirator storage area. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet).

Note: If only a high-temperature alarm is used, the air supply should be monitored to prevent carbon monoxide in the breathing air to exceed 10 ppm.
