29 CFR 1910.23(d)(2): The minimum perpendicular distance from the centerline of the steps or rungs, or grab bars, or both, to the nearest permanent object in back of the ladder is 7 inches (18 cm), except for elevator pit ladders, which have a minimum perpendicular distance of 4.5 inches (11 cm);     On or about October 1, 2017 through December 13, 2017, the employer provided a fixed ladder for employees to access bins. The ladder did not have seven inches of clearance behind the space between two rungs near the third platform to allow for unobstructed footing for employees to climb up or down the ladder.   Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
