29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle: Production, press brake department, Amada 50 ton hydraulic press brake no. PB3 (model no. RG-5020LD, serial no. 50200038) - on or about November 13, 2017, an employee was assigned to operate the subject press brake equipped with the operator's bar pedal for cycle actuation. The point-of-operation was not guarded to prevent operator's access to the point-of-operation during the hazardous operating cycle. Operator's fingers and hands were exposed to being caught-in the pinch point between dies while hand-feeding, aligning, and supporting small metal parts (1 in. x 0.35 in.) for bending. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
