29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(1): Chemical manufacturers and importers shall obtain or develop a safety data sheet for each hazardous chemical they produce or import. Employers shall have a safety data sheet in the workplace for each hazardous chemical which they use.    The employer did not have the new Global Harmonization System style Safety Data Sheet for employees exposed to Marble Clear Gel Coat while spraying molds in the spray booths.

29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(iii): The employer shall identify and evaluate the respiratory hazard(s) in the workplace; this evaluation shall include a reasonable estimate of employee exposures to respiratory hazard(s) and an identification of the contaminant's chemical state and physical form. Where the employer cannot identify or reasonably estimate the employee exposure, the employer shall consider the atmosphere to be IDLH.    The employer did not evaluate employee exposure to total dust while employees polish and grind cast marble.

29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Other substances -- 8-hour Time Weighted Averages. An employee's exposure to any substance in Table Z-1, the exposure limit of which is not preceded by a "C", shall not exceed the 8-hour Time Weighted Average given for that substance any 8-hour work shift of a 40-hour work week.    a) On February 13, 2018, an employee polishing was exposed to an 8 hour Time Weighted Average of 35.99 milligrams per cubic meter of air of calcium carbonate dust which was 2.32 times the Permissible Exposure Limit.    b) On February 13, 2018, an employee polishing was exposed to an 8 hour Time Weighted Average of 27.02 milligrams per cubic meter of air of calcium carbonate dust which was 1.72 times the Permissible Exposure Limit.    c)  On February 13, 2018, an employee grinding was exposed to an 8 hour Time Weighted Average of 34.89 milligrams per cubic meter of air of calcium carbonate dust which was 2.24 times the Permissible Exposure Limit.     STEP 1: Plan    Submit to the Area Director a written, detailed plan of abatement outlining a schedule for the implementation of engineering and/or administrative measure to control employee exposure to hazardous substances referenced in this citation.    1. Evaluation of engineering/administrative control options.    2. Selection of optimum control methods and completion of design.    3. Procurement, installation and operation of selected control measures.    4. Testing and acceptance of modifications/redesign controls.

29 CFR 1910.1000(e): To achieve compliance with paragraphs (a) through (d) of this section, administrative or engineering controls must first be determined and implemented whenever feasible. When such controls are not feasible to achieve full compliance, protective equipment or any other protective measures shall be used to keep the exposure of employees to air contaminants within the limits prescribed in this section. Any equipment and/or technical measures used for this purpose must be approved for each particular use by a competent industrial hygienist or other technically qualified person. Whenever respirators are used, their use shall comply with 1910.134.
