29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Worksite: (1) On or about 3/5/2018, the employer did not ensure that ingoing nip points on the conveyor system were properly guarded where the conveyor belt meets the return drum and between the conveyor return drum and the non-powered metal rollers. (2) On or about 3/5/2018, the employer did not ensure that the auger which pulls product from the trough below the mixing vat was guarded to prevent employees from making incidental contact, and from allowing employees to use their hands to pull samples of the mixed product from the trough area while the auger is turning.
