29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Airo Line, Lacom Machine - On or about March 20, 2018, employees were exposed to hazards and rotating parts, in that machine guarding was not provided to employees reaching into and removing materials from rolls of the machine and utilizing the aisle during machine operations. b) Coater 5, Pre-Tenter Area - On or about April 10, 2018, employees were exposed to hazards, in that the rotating supporting shaft on the turn roller was not guarded on each end. c) Coater 5, Latex Puddle Area - On or about April 10, 2018, employees were exposed to hazards, in that the rotating shaft on the idle roller, near the floor, in front of the latex puddle area, was not guarded on each end. d) Coater 5, Tenter Station - On or about March 20, 2018, the tenter pins were not guarded or covered, exposing employees to caught-in and in-running nip point hazards. Mohawk Industries was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1263259, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 29, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 1149 Duvall road, Chatsworth, Georgia 30705.
