29 CFR 1910.1000(d)(2)(i): An employee was exposed to Copper Fume; Manganese Fume and Zinc Oxide Fume listed in the Z tables in excess of the cumulative exposure limit: a) Outside Torching Area, on or about 4/11/18: An employee working as a Torcher was exposed to 165.8% of the PEL to mixture formula of Cobalt Metal Dust; Nickel Metal; Copper Fume and Chromium Metal. The sampling period was for 274 minutes. A zero increment is included for the 206 minutes not sampled. Employee was wearing a half mask air purifying respirator.

29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): a)Outside Torching Area, on or about 4/11/18: Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not implemented to reduce employee exposure to Cobalt Metal Dust; Nickel Metal; Copper Fume and Chromium Metal below the mixture formula. Employee exposures as referenced in Citation 1 Item 1a. EFFECTIVE MEANS OF ABATMENT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1. Provide local exhaust ventilation at point of operation 2. Train employees on methods to avoid unnecessary exposure 3. Continue with the respiratory program 4. Conduct air monitoring after any changes have been made to determine if improvements have been made.
