29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation hazards associated with using inadequately guarded meat cutting saw. The most recent occurrence of this was evident on April 24, 2018 at the facility located at 2662 Cornhusker Hwy, Lincoln, NE where the employer has employees using the inadequately guarded Hobart model 5801 vertical band saw, serial number 27-1078-890 to cut various types of meat thus exposing the employees to amputation hazards. Instances include but are not limited to: i. The cutting surface of the band saw was not adjusted to the height of the product.
