This was most recently documented on or about August 7, 2018 at A.M. Pyrotechnic Displays LLC, located at 2429 E. 535th Road, Buffalo, MO. The employer did not ensure that employees were physically able to wear tight-fitting elastomeric respirators as determined by a physician or other licensed healthcare professional while performing their work duties per the requirements of the respiratory projection standard. Employees were working with chemicals including but not limited to potassium chlorate, potassium nitrate, sulfur and charcoal air float. Employees were instructed that they are to wear their personal protective equipment which included respiratory projection when manufacturing.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area:    The employer is failing to protect employees from possible exposure to toxic and or hazardous substances. This was most recently documented on or about July 5, 2018 at A.M. Pyrotechnic Displays LLC and A.M. Pyrotechnics LLC, located at 2429 E. 535th Road, Buffalo, MO. The employer did not ensure that employees were protected from the potential health hazards to which workers may be exposed. The hazards range from nuisance dust to highly toxic dusts and fumes in process of pyrotechnics manufacturing. Employees were exposed to chemicals including, but was not limited to, black powder, a mix of 75 percent potassium nitrate, 15 percent charcoal, and 10 percent sulfur. Several metal salts that are added to cause colorful luminescence upon combustion, such as Barium used to obtain a green colored flame, strontium for red, copper for blue, and sodium for yellow. Many other chemicals are added as fuels and oxidizers, such as the highly reactive chemicals, ammonium perchlorate and red phosphorous; potassium dichromate, which is a hexavalent chromium compound; and aluminum powder.
