29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Shop Area: On or about August 15, 2018 the Jet Bandsaw with unknown serial number had two sections of the unused portion of the saw blade that were ten and a half inches long and six inches long that were not protected by a guard. (b) Shop Area: On or about August 15, 2018 the guard on the rotating chuck on the Tur 630A lathe serial number 990057 had been removed exposing the employee to being struck by the extended jaws coming out of the chuck as the chuck rotated.
