29 CFR 1926.403(b)(1): Examination. The employer did not ensure that electrical equipment was free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. On 8/23/2018, employees from Westerfeld General Contracting, LLC were framing a residential building located on lot 32 Carolyn Circle in Wright City, MO. The employer did not ensure the extension cords onsite were free from recognized hazards. The cords were used to provide power to various circular and reciprocating saws. The cords should have been removed from service for the following: a) Five extension cords had damaged or missing insulation. b) Two extension cords were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief was provided to prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws.
