29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees were not protected by protective helmets while working in areas where there was a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns: On or about 08/27/2018, at City of Decatur Visitors Center, 113 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur GA the employer failed to ensure that employees performing cutting operations of a metal canopy with a saw and abrasive cutoff wheel were wearing hard hats. Also, employees on the ground catching the metal canopy were not wearing hard hats. Employees were exposed to sharp metal edges and flying debris generated from the cutting procedure. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.

On or about 08/27/2018, at City of Decatur Visitors Center, 113 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur GA the employer failed to ensure that employees performing cutting operations of a metal canopy with a saw and abrasive cutoff wheel were eye/face/hand protection.
