29 CFR 1910.184(e)(8): Effect of wear. If the chain size at any point of the link is less than that stated in Table N-184-1, the employer must remove the chain from service. On or about August 23, 2018 a 1" , 3 leg chain sling had an alloy steel coupling link used to attach the magnet to an overhead gantry crane in the southern charge yard was measured at 0.794". This measurement exceeds the 0.8125" minimum allowable chain size listed in the table mentioned above.
