On or about March 19, 2019, employees performing window installation operations from a boom lift at a residential single family property were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 13.4 feet when the employer constructed a non-manufacturer approved wooden platform and attached it to the boom lift to raise the employees. 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers. On or about March 19, 2019, employees performing window installation operations from a boom lift at a residential single family property were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 13.4 feet when the employer failed to ensure that fall protection was utilized. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1131269, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on April 21, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 7 S. 340 Green Acres Drive, Naperville, Illinois 60564. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1203692, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on April 21, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at Lot 40/41 Dublin Way, Frankfort, Illinois 60423. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
