29 CFR 1926.103: NOTE: The requirements applicable to construction work under this section are identical to those set forth at 29 CFR 1910.134 of this chapter. 29 CFR 1910.134(h)(1)(i): Respirators issued for the exclusive use of an employee were not cleaned and disinfected as often as necessary to be maintained in a sanitary condition: I-294 and Busse Rd. Park Ridge, IL 60068 - Capital Industrial Coatings, LLC did not ensure that respirators worn by employees were maintained in a sanitary condition, without lead contamination. a) On or about April 10, 2019, an employee utilized a respirator which contained 68.5 micrograms of lead on the inside of the respirator while performing abrasive blasting operations on lead-coated steel structures. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.

Park Ridge, IL 60068 - Capital Industrial Coatings, LLC did not initially determine if any employee was exposed to lead at or above the action level of 30 ug/m3 calculated as an 8-hour TWA. a) On or about April 10, 2019, employees performed abrasive blasting on a lead-coated steel bridge structure potentially exposing them to lead at or above the action level of 30 ug/m3 calculated as an 8-hour TWA. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item. The employer submitted air monitoring data from April 24, 2019 at the above noted site.
