(a): Exterior Roof- The employer did not ensure that employees were using appropriate eye protection while using nail guns. Employees were using nail guns to install roofing and were exposed to projectile eye hazards, on or about May 7, 2019.  There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed:  (a): Exterior Parking Lot- Portable ladders used for access by employees to an upper landing surface did not have the ladder rails extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface. Employees were accessing a roof by using a portable extension ladder that did not have rails extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface, on or about, May 7, 2019.  There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employees provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b):  (a): Exterior Roof- Five employees engaged in residential construction 6 feet or more above lower levels were not protected by any method of fall protection. The employees were wearing fall protection harnesses that were not connected to an anchor point. The employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 25 feet while working on the roof, on or about May 7, 2019.  There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.  Janiec Roofing Inc was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1168862, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 09/06/2017, with respect to a workplace located at 215 Malcolm Ave in Garfield, NJ.  Janiec Roofing Inc was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 988599, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 01/21/2015, with respect to a workplace located at 265 Oak Street in Ridgewood, NJ.
