29 CFR 1910.22(d)(1): Walking-working surfaces were not maintained in a safe condition: (a) Employee(s) stepping off of counter weighted catwalks to a wash out station working surface located at 9900 W. 75th Street, Merriam, Kansas were exposed to struck-by hazards when the catwalks return to a vertical resting state. The retracting catwalks violently impact the wash out station platform where employee(s) were standing. (b) Employee(s) walking between the lower section of the wash out station and the ready mix trucks located at 9900 W. 75th Street, Merriam, Kansas were exposed to struck-by hazards due to no protective screen being placed around the lower structural members of the wash out station to prevent the counter weight equipment from impacting employee(s). The counter weight equipment below the wash out station platform extends out approximately 12 inches, thus not maintaining a safe walking / working surface.
