29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a): Produce Line #3- Winder Bar - One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator from hazards created from the rotating bars on the winder. The light curtain prevented the entire winder apparatus from rotating but did not prevent the individual bars from rotating. An employee was in the process of manually replacing 3 tubes on a bar when it started to rotate causing injuries to the employee, on or about, May 31, 2019. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). (b): Produce Line #3- Inner Winder Rollers - One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator from hazards created from the inner winder rollers. Employees are required to reach in close proximity to the rotating rollers to feed the plastic into the rollers when the plastic bag line is cut improperly, on or about, June 3, 2019. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
