Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.23(c)(8): 29 CFR 1910.23(c)(8) The employer did not ensure that the top cap and the top step of a step ladder was not used as steps. a) Date of Violation: 06-04-19, Location: 3057 Barnett Ave. (Playground Area) at Quantico Marine Corps Base; Quantico, VA 22134: Employee was exposed to falls in excess of 10 feet after climbing on to and stepping off of the top cap of an A-frame ladder. Employee was accessing and working from the top corner metal post while attempting to install a canopy cover over the playground area. The working surface was small enough that it did not accommodate the employees' entire footing. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i): The employer did not ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that was 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level was protected from falling by one or more of the following: Guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: (a) On or about 06-04-2019 and times prior thereto, located at U.S.M.C. Base Quantico (Facilities Maintenance Division), 3057 Barnett Ave. Quantico, VA 22134, Condition: An employee was standing on the top surface of a corner structural post, of the playground fixed canopy assembly, while trying to install the canopy cover. The employee was working at an approximate height of 10 foot while only standing on the narrow bolt flange that was not large enough to accommodate footing for his entire foot. No fall protection was provided or utilized. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
