29 CFR 1910.37(b)(4): Signs were not posted along the exit access indicating the direction of travel to the nearest exit and exit discharge when the direction of travel to the exit or exit discharge was not immediately apparent:  McLane Company, Inc., Athens, Ga- In the warehouse area, employees would be exposed to a potential fire hazard during an emergency evacuation due to the employers failure to ensure that directional signs showing the way to the nearest exit were visible at all time. Boxes of stored material were stacked in a manner that covered the exit direction signs, on or about July 2, 2019.   In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

29 CFR 1910.176(a): Permanent aisles or passageways were not appropriately marked and/or kept clear with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard:  McLane Company, Inc., Athens, Ga-On or about July 2, 2019, and times prior to, in the warehouse area (Loading dock), employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard while walking and working near unmarked aisle ways where forklifts travelled and aisles were stacked so high that it partially blocked the unloaders and operators vision.  Boxes and other material were stacked in unstable piles in and around the aisle ways used by the forklifts employees and employees could inadvertently  walk into forklift lanes.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.  This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.

29 CFR 1910.178(n)(4): Industrial truck driver(s) were not required to slow down and sound the horn at cross aisles and wherever vision was obstructed:  On or about July 2, 2019, in the warehouse area (Loading dock), forklift drivers were not required to slow down and blow the horn to prevent struck by hazards for employees selecting product in the partially blocked aisles.  Forklift operators and loaders view was blocked due to unstable loads in the aisle ways that were not marked for employee protection.  Employee were exposed to struck-by injuries from inadvertently entering forklift traffic lanes that were not marked.   In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.  This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
