29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): (a)B&B Contracting, Inc. at 31st Avenue and Dakota Street, Aberdeen, SD 57401: On or about and at times prior to July 24, 2019, the employer did not ensure that employees conducting work in an excavation were protected from cave-in hazards. Employees were connecting water service stubs to the main water line in an excavation approximately 8 feet in depth which lacked an adequate protective system, such as sloping, benching, or shielding system. This condition exposed employees to cave-in hazards within an excavation 8 feet deep.
