Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard would be to install a functioning door interlock device on the HAAS CNC machine in accordance with ANSI B11.22 Safety Requirements for Turning Centers Automatic Numerically Controlled Turning Machines, paragraphs 6.21 Safeguarding and 6.21.2 Automatic Mode that states:    1. Paragraph 6.21: Machine shall be safeguarded whenever practical by fixed or interlocked movable guards.    2. Paragraph 6.21.1.2: Machine operation shall only be possible when the guards are closed and the safeguarding (protective) devices are active. If it is possible, in this mode, to open an interlocked moveable guard, the hazardous movement shall cease and be inhibited.    If opening of the interlocked movable guard gives access to hazards, guard locking shall be provided.
