OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards: a) Acetylene Gas Plant: On August 15, 2019 and at times prior thereto, acetylene cylinders were nested together with their valves and/or valve stems opened, being blown down (emptied) to atmosphere prior to maintenance. Employees were exposed to highly flammable acetylene gas. Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. Norco, Inc. was previously cited for a Serious violation of this occupational safety and health standard, OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1079137, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on October 21, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 850 West Gown Rd, Boise, ID 83705.
