29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:     Production Line #3, PF 4701 Sugar Scale/Poly Bin.  On or about July 29, 2019, employees were exposed to amputation, laceration and crushing injuries to hands and fingers if struck by the pneumatically powered roller slide gate valve at the bottom of the poly bin where sugar was dispensed into containers, when the slide gate closed automatically.  The barrier guard on the sifter below the poly bin was not adequate to prevent entry into the slide gate danger zone.     There is no abatement documentation or certification required for this item.
