29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  a) On or about 8/1/2019, Cabinet Shop, a drill press did not have machine guards, exposing employees to a lacerations, eye injuries, and severe injuries.  b) On or about 8/1/2019, Locksmith Shop, a drill press did not have a machine guards exposing employees to a lacerations, eye injuries, and severe injuries. 29 CFR 1910.213(c)(1): Circular handfed ripsaw(s) were not guarded by an automatically adjusting hood which completely enclosed that portion of the saw above the table and above the material being cut:  a) On or about 8/1/2019, Carpenter Shop, the guard for the Delta table saw, the guard, spreader, and non kickback fingers was not installed.  The saw was last used on or about July 2019.  PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED FOR THIS CITATION ITEM AS REQUIRED BY CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1910.215(a)(4): Work rest(s) on grinding machinery were not adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one eighth inch.  (a) On or about 8/1/2019, Locksmith Shop - The work rest on the Dayton Bench Grinder, VA Property Tag #65172265 exceeded 1/8", which prevents the work from being jammed between the wheel and the rest. 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(iii): Flexible cords and cables were not connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief was provided that would prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws:  a) On or about 8/1/2019, Carpenter Shop, the flexible cord servicing the Delta table saw, was wired into a dedicated service disconnect box that was not connected to the fitting so that a strain relief was provided.  The saw was last used on or about July 2019.     PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED FOR THIS CITATION ITEM AS REQUIRED BY CFR 1903.19(c).
