29 CFR 1910.107(b)(5)(iv): Space within the spray booth on the downstream and upstream sides of filters were not protected with approved automatic sprinklers: a.) Jamestown Paint Company, Inc. dba Jamestown Coating Technologies, Spray booth area, on or about August 29th, 2019 and times prior thereto: Automatic sprinklers or other approved extinguishing equipment had not been installed on the downstream and upstream sides of filters in the quality control spray booth. Throughout each work shift, employees were potentially exposed to a fire hazard at the employers quality control spray booth where flammable materials were sprayed. b.) Jamestown Paint Company, Inc. dba Jamestown Coating Technologies, Spray booth area, on or about August 29th, 2019 and times prior thereto: Automatic sprinklers or other approved extinguishing equipment had not been installed on the downstream and upstream sides of filters in the laboratory spray booth. Throughout each work shift, employees were potentially exposed to a fire hazard at the employers laboratory spray booth where flammable materials were sprayed. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

Flammable liquids including, but not limited to, quart sized containers of methyl ethyl ketone, and xylene were stored inside the spray booth area. b.) Jamestown Paint Company, Inc. dba Jamestown Coating Technologies, Quality control spray booth area, on or about August 29th, 2019 and times prior thereto: Employees perform spray painting/coating operations in the Laboratory spray booth. Flammable liquids including, but not limited to, quart and ½ gallon sized containers of methyl ethyl ketone, and xylene were stored inside the spray booth area. Employees did not have access within the immediate work area to a suitable eyewash/shower station.
