29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about August 29, 2019, and at times prior thereto, in the machine shop milling area, the employer did not ensure the end mills and the drill press were guarded to prevent exposing employees to caught-in, and struck by hazards; a) Bridgeport Series II Special end mills (2 each), were not guarded; and b)An operator operated the Powermatic drill press model # 1200 serial # 920565 without the guard in place (the operator did have safety glasses and a face shield). The ACS Manufacturing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1188889, citation number 1, item number 2, with a final abatement date of 1/9/2017, and was affirmed as a final order on 1/4/2017, with respect to a workplace located at 1601 Commerce Blvd. Denison, Texas.
