29 CFR 1926.501(b)(4)(i): Each employee on walking/working surfaces was not protected from falling through holes (including skylights), more than six feet (1.8 m) above lower levels, by personal fall arrest systems, covers, or guardrail systems erected around such holes. On or about October 2, 2019, employees performing roofing operations were not protected from falling through unguarded skylights, exposing employees to a fall of approximately 13 feet. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width, each employee was not protected by use of a monitoring system. On or about October 2, 2019, employees performing roofing operations on a low sloped roof were not protected from a fall hazards, exposing employees to falls of approximately 13.4 feet to the ground below. Technician Roofing, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1926.501(b)(10), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1130358, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 4, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 4280 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431. Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
