29 CFR 1926.303(b)(1): Grinding machines shall be equipped with safety guards in conformance with the requirements of American National Standards Institute, B7.1-1970, Safety Code for the Use, Care and Protection of Abrasive Wheels, and paragraph (d) of this section. Roof of building: A portable angle grinder was used to grind concrete edges without a guard. Employees were exposed to struck-by and laceration hazards.

29 CFR 1926.1153(c)(1): For each employee engaged in a task identified on Table 1, the employer did not fully and properly implement the engineering controls, work practices, and respiratory protection specified for the task on Table 1, unless the employer assesses and limits the exposure of the employee to respirable crystalline silica in accordance with paragraph (d) of this section: a) Roof of building: Concrete was chipped with a handheld powered chipping tool without an integrated water delivery system or dust collection system as specified in Table 1 of this standard. Nor had the employer assessed exposure to respirable crystalline silica for the task. Employees were exposed to the health hazards associated with respirable crystalline silica dust. b) Roof of building: Concrete was ground with a portable angle grinder tool without an integrated water delivery system or dust collection system as specified in Table 1 of this standard. Nor had the employer assessed exposure to respirable crystalline silica for the task. Employees were exposed to the health hazards associated with respirable crystalline silica dust.
