29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met:    (a)  Carpenters in the shop were not aware of a written hazard communication program for chemicals including dusts and solvents.  Workers used lubricants, spray finishing, and cut and sanded natural woods (white oak, alder, and more), and manufactured wood products, such as melamine.  Specific chemicals used included, but were not limited to flammable solvent-containing Lami-Lube-III, Bostik GlideCote, Famowood Wood Filler, and Rust-Oleum spray enamel.    Note: Certification of corrective action is required for this item.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area:  (a)  Employees engaged in cabinet building had not received training on the hazardous chemicals in their workplace, including the hazards of the chemicals, how to recognize exposures, or the methods to protect themselves.  Chemicals included, but were not limited to: dusts from natural wood; dusts and chemicals associated with manufactured wood products, such as Melamine; and flammable solvent containing chemicals such as Lami-Lube-III, Bostik GlideCote, Famowood Wood Filler, and Rust-Oleum spray enamel. 29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1):  All places of employment, passageways, storerooms, service rooms, and walking-working surfaces were not kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.  (a) Accumulations of combustible wood dust had accumulated over a prolonged period, including but not limited to the storage above the restroom, other elevated surfaces, ledges, ductwork, and conduit.    NOTE: Abatement certification AND supporting documentation are required for this item.  Taft Design Works, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1):, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1356940, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on January 3, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 109 Honeysuckle Street, Bellevue, ID, 83313.

29 CFR 1910.134(c)(2)(i): Respirator users were not provided with the information contained in Appendix D to 29 CFR 1910.134 when the employer determined that any voluntary respirator use was permissible:  (a)  Workers were provided and permitted to wear N95 filtering face piece respirators.  The employer had not provided training or information to ensure workers understand the use and limitations of the these respirators.
