29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer is failing to protect employees from rotating parts and drive bands of the manufacturing palletizing conveyor line in the shipping department. On or about December 5, 2019, an employer suffered a partial finger amputation from the drive shaft while attempting to untangle drive bands from the conveyor line. A portion of the machine guarding for the equipment had been previously removed.
