29 CFR 1926.25(a): During the course of construction, alteration, or repairs,  debris was not kept cleared from work areas, passageways, and stairs, in and around buildings or other structures:  Worksite, 279 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ          a) Where employees walked and worked performing masonry construction, the walkway to the rear of the building was not kept clear of masonry and lumber construction debris.  Violation occurred on or about January 13, 2020

29 CFR 1926.34(c): Means of egress was not continually maintained free of all obstructions or impediments to full instant use in the case of fire or other emergency:  Worksite, 279 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ          a) Where workers performed masonry work, the employer did not maintain means of egress free of obstructions to full or instant use.  The two means of egress doorways  from the rear of the building to the front exits to the street were obstructed by framing studs, or construction and carpentry debris.    Violation occurred on or about January 13, 2020

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  Worksite, 279 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ          a) A worker was hoisting concrete block from the ground, approximately 20 feet from grade below, in a location where guardrails were removed without any means of fall protection.    b) A worker was hoisting concrete block from the ground, approximately 10 feet from grade below, in a location where there was only a top rail, not a midrail.   Violation occurred on or about January 13, 2020

29 CFR 1926.706(b): All masonry walls over eight feet in height shall be adequately braced to prevent overturning and to prevent collapse unless the wall is adequately supported so that it will not overturn or collapse. The bracing shall remain in place until permanent supporting elements of the structure are in place:   Worksite, 279 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ          a) Workers were exposed to crushing injuries when the employer failed to adequately brace the south and north 4 inch width cinderblock walls to prevent collapse after being built to 5 feet, and then an additional 7 feet, for a total height of 12 feet.     Violation occurred on or about January 7-11, 2020
