29 CFR 1910.37(b)(6): Each exit sign was not illuminated to a surface value of at least five foot-candles (54 lux) by a reliable light source and be distinctive in color: a) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA- The EXIT sign near cubicle 201 did not glow in the dark. b) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA- The EXIT sign near the LAN room did not glow in the dark. c) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA- The EXIT sign near cubicle 203 did not glow in the dark. d) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA- The EXIT sign near cubicle 223 did not glow in the dark. This exposes employees to delayed egress hazards. 29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling: (a) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA Office 219; A Keurig was plugged into a surge protector (relocatable power tap). The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances. (b) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA Area near cubicle 221; A Hamilton Beech Coffee pot was plugged into a relocatable power tap/ surge protector. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed for low amperage computer and audiovisual types of equipment, and not appliances. (c) Customs and Border Protection, Port of Seattle, 1021 Klickitat Way, Suite D103, Seattle, WA Cubicle 202; A surge protector/ relocatable power tap was plugged into another surge protector/ relocatable power tap which powered Dell computer equipment and View Sonic monitors. The UL listing states that relocatable power taps are designed to be plugged into an outlet, and not daisy chained and plugged into other relocatable power taps or extension cords. This exposes employees to possible electrical fire hazards. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1303762, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on April 24, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at Sumas, WA. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1185225, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on July 25, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at Point Roberts, WA.
