29 CFR 1926.651(j)(1): Adequate protection was not provided to protect employees from loose rock or soil that could cause a hazard by falling or rolling from the excavation face. 690 Bliss Rd., Longmeadow, MA: On or about February 7, 2020, an employee was observed working in a 14 foot deep excavation in which the top edge of the installed protective system was below the level of the surrounding ground surface which exposed the employee to the hazards of loose rock or soil falling into the excavation. Specific abatement documentation that this violation has been corrected must be provided within 10 days of the abatement in accordance with 29CFR1903.19(d)(1).
