Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On January 29, 2020, at 9149 Cincinnati-Columbus, Road, West Chester, a single story commercial building; two employees on a flat metal roof were exposed to a 17 ft. fall hazard while installing gutters on the back eave of the roof without utilizing any fall protection.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2)(ii): Training Requirements: The correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspecting the fall protection systems to be used; The employer had not provided fall protection training to two employees who on January 29, 2020, at 9149 Columbus Cincinnati Road, West Chester, a one story commercial building, were working on a flat metal roof and exposed to a 17 ft. fall hazard and were using exhaust pipes sticking up from the flat metal roof as anchorage points on the roof as a part of their fall protection system.
