29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1)(i): The employer did not compile a list of the hazardous chemicals known to be present using a product identifier that was referenced on the appropriate safety data sheet. a) On or about March 17, 2020, the employer did not ensure that employees engaged in automotive service activities were protected from unknown chemical exposures from chemicals such as, but not limited to, automotive motor oil, synthetic motor oil, greases, lubricants and fluids in the workplace in that they did not develop and maintain a chemical inventory list of those hazardous chemicals used in the shop. 29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer did not maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and did not ensure that they were readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they were in their work area(s): a) On or about March 17, 2020, the employer did not ensure that employees engaged in automotive maintenance activities were protected from hazards of chemical exposure from chemicals such as, but not limited to, automotive motor oil, synthetic motor oil, greases, lubricants and fluids in the workplace in that: 1) SDSs are placed in a binder in the shop office in no order, and were not maintained in an organized manner that would allow immediate employee access. 2) SDSs for some chemicals no longer in use are contained in the same binder as current shop chemicals, and are not organized in any manner that allows for immediate employee access. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
