29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers.  a. Located at 1742 Hilliard-Rome Rd., Columbus, Ohio: On or about May 12, 2020, an employee was exposed to falls from the Genie scissor lift in use while working at heights of greater than 10 feet up to approximately 20 feet. The employee was not protected from falls to the lower concrete pavement below while working in a scissor lift as they were climbing up onto the mid and top-rails of the guardrails and out of the scissor lift to access steel beams above to perform welding tasks. No other fall protection measures were in use while climbing out of scissor lift.  b. Located at 1742 Hilliard-Rome Rd., Columbus, Ohio: On or about May 12, 2020, an employee was exposed to falls from the Genie scissor lift in use while working at heights of greater than 10 feet up to approximately 20 feet. The employee was not protected from falls to the lower concrete pavement below while working in a scissor lift as they were climbing up onto the mid and top-rails of the guardrails and leaning out of the scissor lift to perform welding on the steel beams of the commercial structure above them.
