29 CFR 1926.502(a)(2): Employers shall provide and install all fall protection systems required by this subpart for an employee, and shall comply with all other pertinent requirements of this subpart before that employee begins the work that necessitates the fall protection. a.) On or about June 2, 2020, employees were exposed to fall hazards measured to be 17 feet 7 inches while removing roofing debris on a flat commercial roof when the employer failed to install a fall protection system before the employees began work.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a.) On or about June 2. 2020, employees were exposed to fall hazards measured to be 17 feet 7 inches while removing roofing debris on a flat commercial roof without properly utilizing a fall protection system. The employer, Carter Home Improvement, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1249593, citation number 1, item number 1B, and was affirmed as a final order on 06/10/2019, with respect to a workplace located at 3210 Marshall Dr. Amelia, OH 45102.
