29 CFR 1910.151(c):The employer did not ensure where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Reference: ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment. East Port of Entry Building B: Employees were handling corrosive and chemical materials such as Category 3 flammable pesticides and drugs where an emergency eye wash station in close proximity for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes was not kept free of clutter and debris within the eyewash area for immediate emergency use. Employees were exposed to severe eye burns or blindness. The Customs and Border Protection was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.151(c) , which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1335083, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/25/2018, with respect to a workplace located at 1500 WEST LA QUINTA NOGALES, AZ 85621.
