Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations shall be intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location. Requirements for each of these options are as follows: 1910.307(c)(1): Intrinsically safe. Equipment and associated wiring approved as intrinsically safe is permitted in any hazardous (classified) location for which it is approved; 1910.307(c)(2): Approved for the hazardous (classified) location.   a) On or about October 16, 2021, J. Rettenmaier USA LP did not ensure that Leeson Electric Corporation metal standing floor fans being utilized at the location of A Mill (Cutters C and D), were approved for the Class 2 hazardous location.  Employees working in and around the location were exposed to fire and explosion hazards.
