The employer required employees to wear respirators while providing care to suspected and confirmed positive COVID-19 residents. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").

29 CFR 1910.134(f)(1):The employer did not ensure that employee(s) required to use a tight-fitting facepiece respirator passed the appropriate qualitative fit test (QLFT) or quantitative fit test (QNFT): (a)Wilmot Care Center at 501 4th Street in Wilmot, SD 57279: On or about and at times prior January 5, 2021, the employer did not ensure employees caring for SARS-CoV-2 positive residents were protected from hazards related to occupational exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus in that employees had not received a fit test prior to being required to wear an N-95 respirator. This condition exposed employees to hazards related to occupational exposure of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
